I am primarily interested in the neural correlates of attitude formation and attitude change. I am also involved in work related to how different groups perceive ambiguous social stimuli. Questions I am currently pursuing include: When it comes to attitudes that differ from our own, why do we find some to be understandable and others downright unacceptable? How does this boundary of acceptability, or "latitude of acceptance,” shift over time? Do persuasive messages that fall within our latitude of acceptance have the power to change our attitudes? Ultimately, I hope new insights in these areas will help inform new strategies for negotiation and conflict resolution.
